Enugu Lawmaker Honors Campaign Promise, Commissions Students Link Road


The Enugu House of Assembly Majority Leader, Hon. Johnson Samuel Ani, has fulfilled a campaign promise by commissioning the reconstruction of a dilapidated link road at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC). The project was inaugurated on August 22nd, 2023, in the presence of Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Ezenta Ezeani, Honorable Princess Obiajulu Ugwu, and other colleagues from the Enugu State House of Assembly.

During the ceremony, the Dean of Students Affairs at UNEC, Mrs. Eni Udoh, expressed her gratitude for the long-awaited road reconstruction, which had been in poor condition for years. She extended her thanks to Hon. Ezenta Ezeani for leading the delegation and marked the event as a historic achievement that would be recorded in the annals of the university.

In a statement to the press, Hon. Johnson Samuel Ani, the Majority Leader, conveyed his appreciation for the divine grace that enabled him to complete the project, highlighting his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises. He acknowledged the support of Hon. Deputy Speaker and fellow Honorable Members who joined him in inaugurating the essential road. He also commended UNEC management for entrusting him with the opportunity to serve and thanked those who witnessed the event, particularly his media team led by Ngene F. C. Obama, for their tireless efforts in communicating his dedication to the project's timely completion.

The occasion was graced by other notable members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, including Hon. Aneke Hyacinth Okechukwu representing Udi South Constituency and Hon. Princess Obiajulu Ugwu representing Enugu South 11, among others.

Enugu: Mburubu 'Kingmakers' Council of Chiefs Denounce Controversial Self- Acclaimed Traditional Ruler

The Mburubu Council of Chiefs, also known as the Igwe Cabinet, has officially disowned Mr. Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, who recently proclaimed himself as the 'Igwe-elect' of Mburubu Kingdom. The council, in a communiqué released on Saturday, vehemently refuted any endorsement or recognition of Onukaibe for the revered position of traditional ruler. According to the communiqué, the council expressed deep embarrassment over Onukaibe's self-presentation to the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, labeling it as an act of impersonation and emphasizing that he was never nominated, selected, or recommended by the community for such a role.
