Enugu State Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development Takes Swift Action Against Domestic Violence, Addresses a Horrifying Case of Brrutality.


The Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, under the leadership of Honourable Commissioner, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, has taken immediate action to address a horrifying case of brutality.

The victim, Mrs. Patience Nwachukwu (Née Edeh), a pregnant woman, endured a brutal assault by her husband, Mr. Evidence Ugochukwu Nwachukwu, which tragically resulted in the loss of her five-month pregnancy.

Commissioner Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih wasted no time in expressing her commitment to ensuring that justice is served in this case of domestic violence, stating emphatically that "the ministry will make sure that the law takes its full course." The timely intervention by the ministry is believed to have saved Mrs. Nwachukwu's life.

Accompanied by the Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET), led by Amb. Mrs. Amaka Nweke JP, Hon. Enih visited the victim at ESUT Teaching Hospital, Park Lane, Enugu. It was revealed that the assailant had physically attacked Mrs. Nwachukwu, pushing her from their room, causing a traumatic fall onto a block outside their house.

Mrs. Nwachukwu, who had the courage to report the abuse to the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, is demanding justice. She expressed her gratitude to the ministry for their swift intervention during this critical time.

The Commissioner for Children, Gender and Social Development, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih, and the Chief Medical Director of ESUT Teaching Hospital, Park Lane, Enugu, Professor Bethrand Ngwu, both present at the hospital, strongly condemned the act in its entirety. They urged victims of domestic violence to speak up and emphasized the importance of anger management for partners.

Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih described the situation as heartbreaking and stressed that no one should ever have to endure such abuse. She reaffirmed the ministry's unwavering commitment to addressing cases of domestic violence and urged the public to use their open phone lines to report any form of domestic abuse.

In a resounding message to those who contemplate such heinous acts, Commissioner Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih assured the public that the offender, Mr. Evidence Ugochukwu Nwachukwu, will be brought to justice, setting an example and deterrent for others who might consider perpetrating such acts in the future.
