Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme Saves Lives of Four Enugu Citizens in the Third Batch of January 2024 Surgical Operations


Showing commitment to public health, the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, pioneered by the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, successfully carried out a series of life-saving surgeries on Sunday, the 7th of January, 2024.

The program, known for its humanitarian healthcare initiatives, has once again proven its dedication to the well-being of Enugu citizens. Four individuals, including Utazi Maryrose, Ezugwu Godwin, Chinedu Chikaodili, and six-year-old Iruoma Omeje, were beneficiaries of the latest surgical interventions.

Utazi Maryrose, hailing from Uvuru, was delivered from Appendicitis through a cost-free Appendectomy, earning praise from her sister, Onyinyechi Utazi, who expressed gratitude on social media for Rt. Hon. Ugwuanyi's compassionate intervention.

Ezugwu Godwin, with an abnormal growth on his neck, found relief as the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme corrected the issue, prompting heartfelt appreciation from his family.

Chinedu Chikaodili, from Nimbo, experienced the correction of an abnormal growth on his right leg, while Iruoma Omeje from Nru was saved from Right femoral hernia through the same batch of surgical operations.

In an exclusive phone interview with FountainCare Reporters, Dr. George Ajogwu, the Director-General of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, highlighted the success of the recent surgical interventions. Dr. Ajogwu commended Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's commitment to the well-being of Enugu citizens and explained that the program's recent expansion is designed to reach patients in remote communities.

Dr. Ajogwu expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration with the Enugu State leadership, emphasizing the collective commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of the citizens. The recent successes mark a promising beginning for healthcare in 2024, instilling optimism for positive transformations in the realm of public health throughout the year.

Enugu: Mburubu 'Kingmakers' Council of Chiefs Denounce Controversial Self- Acclaimed Traditional Ruler

The Mburubu Council of Chiefs, also known as the Igwe Cabinet, has officially disowned Mr. Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, who recently proclaimed himself as the 'Igwe-elect' of Mburubu Kingdom. The council, in a communiqué released on Saturday, vehemently refuted any endorsement or recognition of Onukaibe for the revered position of traditional ruler.
