Enugu State Leads the Way in Climate Change Awareness and Action: A Beacon of Hope for a Sustainable Future

 


The Enugu State government has launched a statewide essay competition to tackle the pressing issue of climate change. This visionary initiative aims to raise massive awareness, inspire action, and foster sustainability among its citizens, setting a shining example for other states to follow.


Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, with far-reaching consequences for our planet and future generations. Rising temperatures, melting ice caps, and extreme weather events are just a few of the devastating impacts of human activities on the environment. It is imperative that we take immediate action to reduce our carbon footprint and transition to renewable energy sources.


The essay competition announced by Prof. Chukwumerije Okereke,  SA to Enugu State Governor on Climate Change and Sustainable Development is open to students and residents of Enugu State, and is designed to encourage individuals to become critical thinkers not just about climate change and its effects on their communities but to wake up to the realities of the devastating impacts of development on the environment. By sharing their ideas and perspectives, participants will contribute to an important statewide conversation on climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. Enugu: Mburubu 'Kingmakers' Council of Chiefs Denounce Controversial Self- Acclaimed Traditional Ruler

The Mburubu Council of Chiefs, also known as the Igwe Cabinet, has officially disowned Mr. Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, who recently proclaimed himself as the 'Igwe-elect' of Mburubu Kingdom. The council, in a communiqué released on Saturday, vehemently refuted any endorsement or recognition of Onukaibe for the revered position of traditional ruler. According to the communiqué, the council expressed deep embarrassment over Onukaibe's self-presentation to the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, labeling it as an act of impersonation and emphasizing that he was never nominated, selected, or recommended by the community for such a role.
