Enthusiasm Soars in Igbo-Eze North PDP Campaign Rally for Ogalla/Abba Transformation Agenda

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for the Ogalla/Abba transformation agenda has gathered unprecedented momentum, as the ongoing local council elections witness massive support across all wards in Igbo-Eze North. The campaign has turned into a carnival-like atmosphere, with large crowds welcoming the PDP campaign train at every stop, reaffirming their loyalty to the party that has been a constant source of hope and development.

The Ogalla/Abba leadership team has focused on continuing the impactful legacy left by the previous administration of Ejike/Ogbugo, which set a new standard for leadership in the region. In every ward and community, there are visible signs of the PDP’s governance, from local council projects to state government initiatives, reaffirming the party’s longstanding commitment to serving the people.

At the core of this campaign's success is the record of ongoing projects that the PDP government has initiated. Currently, smart school projects are being executed in all 20 wards of the council. Additionally, the long-neglected Nsukka-Ogrute-Ette road, a key artery in the North, has been awarded for reconstruction, with bulldozers already stationed at various sites such as Ogrute-Umuogbo Ulo-Isiugwu-Umuopu road.

Further demonstrating the PDP’s commitment to development, multiple type 2 health centers are set to be established in various wards. Meanwhile, Hon. Simon Atigwe, the member representing Igbo-Eze North/Udenu in the House of Representatives, has been hard at work. Despite distractions from the ousted Labour Party (LP) representative, he recently secured the construction of a six-classroom block at CSS Imufu, which is advancing rapidly, alongside similar projects in Umuopu, Amufie, Uda, Umuida, and Ufodo.

During a recent campaign rally at Umuitodo Ward 3, held in Olido, Hon. Atigwe, a seasoned political strategist, led the team to solicit support for the Ogalla/Abba ticket. The ongoing smart school and school block projects in the ward, along with the state government’s health center project at Imufu, bolstered their message. The LP's local government chairman may be from the ward, but the PDP's solid track record has left the opposition with little to offer. Voters are prepared to echo their decisive rejection of the LP, as they did during the February 3, 2024, House of Representatives rerun election.

One of the key reasons for the PDP’s projected success is its strategic political zoning, which promotes balance, fairness, and equity. The decision to zone the vice-chairmanship slot to Ette is seen as a masterstroke, especially when compared to the LP’s controversial decision to zone their running mate to Umuitodo. This move by the LP is perceived as unjust, considering that Umuitodo already holds a state assembly position, while Ette has been marginalized. The PDP’s distribution of power across the four Umunano groups has ensured that no area feels neglected:

  1. Essodo – House of Representatives
  2. Umuitodo – State Assembly
  3. Ezzodo – Immediate State Assembly/Representatives
  4. Ette – Vice-Chairmanship

This equitable power-sharing arrangement has reduced political tensions, fostering unity within the PDP.

Ette’s political future appears firmly aligned with the PDP, as notable stakeholders from the area, including veteran politician Hon. Joseph Ogwuche, have publicly declared their support for Ogalla/Abba. In contrast, the LP’s former representatives failed to deliver any meaningful projects to the area during their tenure. The PDP, on the other hand, can point to tangible achievements, including the school project at Ayishi Ette, electrification in Olepe Ette, and numerous empowerment initiatives.

With the vice-chairmanship zoned to Ette, the PDP is poised to enjoy overwhelming support in the area, which is home to three of the 20 wards in Igbo-Eze North. Any political party that ignores Ette does so at its peril, as history has shown.

The PDP’s zoning strategy, which promotes fairness and inclusivity, is a reflection of the party’s commitment to unity and equitable governance. As the campaign enters its final phase, the people of Igbo-Eze North are urged to vote for the party that puts their interests first and has a proven track record of delivering on its promises.

With the elections just days away, the enthusiasm surrounding the Ogalla/Abba transformation agenda continues to grow, positioning the PDP for what looks to be a resounding victory.
