Chief Dr Chinedu Mba Led Fed' Govt College Enugu PTA Inaugurates New Seven-Member Standing Committee

The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Federal Government College (FGC), Enugu, today inaugurated a new seven-member standing committee. The inauguration ceremony, held in the school’s auditorium, was attended by PTA members, school staff, and well-wishers. The event marked a significant step towards enhancing collaboration between parents and the school management in the shared goal of fostering a conducive learning environment for students.


The Chairman of the PTA, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mba, in his opening address, urged the newly inaugurated committee members to be committed and efficient in carrying out their duties. He emphasized that the committee’s primary role would be to foster collaboration between parents and the school management, ensuring that the needs of students and the school community are effectively addressed. Dr. Mba highlighted the importance of teamwork and dedication, calling on the members to work diligently towards the betterment of the school.


Following his address, Mrs. Amu-nnadi Dorathy Uzoma, the PTA Secretary, was called upon to read out the terms of reference for the various committees. These committees have been strategically established to focus on key areas essential to the development and smooth functioning of the school. The committees and their respective heads are as follows:


Welfare Committee: Headed by Hon. Okey J.S Nwatu. This committee is responsible for ensuring the well-being of students and staff, addressing concerns related to health, nutrition, and overall welfare.


Security Committee: Headed by Hon. Fidelis Agbowo. This committee is tasked with maintaining a safe and secure environment within the school premises, ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors.


Discipline Committee: Headed by Evangelist Timothy Nwanekpe. The discipline committee will oversee matters related to student behavior, enforcing school rules, and promoting a culture of respect and discipline.


Finance/Fund Raising Committee: Headed by Hon. Gabriel Sunday Okeke. This committee will manage the PTA’s finances, organizing fundraising activities to support various school projects and initiatives.


Works/Infrastructure Committee: Headed by Hon. Sam Chima. This committee is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and development of the school’s physical infrastructure, ensuring that facilities are in good condition and meet the needs of the school community.


The inauguration of these committees serves several purposes. Firstly, it marks the official commencement of the PTA's new term, symbolizing a fresh start and the readiness of the PTA, teachers, and school community to embark on new educational endeavors. The formation of these committees is also intended to boost the morale of PTA members, create a sense of unity, and foster school spirit.


Moreover, the inauguration provides an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and contributions of those involved in the development of the institution. The committees will play a crucial role in addressing the needs of the school, ensuring that FGC Enugu continues to provide a high-quality education for its students.


On behalf of the newly inaugurated members, the Chairman of the Welfare Committee, Hon. Okey S.J Nwatu, expressed his gratitude to the PTA Executive for entrusting them with this responsibility. He assured the PTA and the school community of their commitment to serve, emphasizing that this initiative is the first of its kind in FGC Enugu. Hon. Nwatu promised to work diligently to make the Executive proud and to contribute meaningfully to the school’s progress.


The inauguration ceremony concluded with a group photograph of the newly inaugurated committee members, the PTA Executive, and other dignitaries present.
