Breaking! Traditional Ruler, 4 Others Kidnapped, Okada Rider Shot Dead in Edo

The traditional ruler of Udo-Eguare, His Royal Highness Friday Ehizojie, Onojie, in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, has been kidnapped.

He was reportedly abducted in a forest located between Ubiaja, by the rest house junction, and Udo community.

According to reports, gunmen ambushed the traditional ruler and shot an Okada rider dead before kidnapping the monarch.

Sources revealed that five others were also kidnapped along with the traditional ruler, though one person allegedly managed to escape captivity.

The Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, stating that they received reports about the kidnapping, including the abduction of the Onogie of Udo-Eguare and a 21-year-old man. The Okada rider, who was a passenger, was shot dead during the ambush, and the Onogie was taken by the kidnappers.

Yamu added that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has ordered the deployment of tactical teams, including the Police Mobile Force, to the area to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the capture of the perpetrators. The Area Commander is said to be personally overseeing the operation as directed by the Commissioner.
