Nigerian Authorities Summon Kenya Airways Representative Over Alleged Unprofessional Conduct In Treatment Of Nigerian Passenger At Nairobi Airport

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned Kenya Airways to explain their handling of a Nigerian passenger at Nairobi Airport. This action follows an incident where the passenger was allegedly mistreated by the airline staff. The NCAA emphasized the airline's responsibility for the incident, citing unprofessional conduct and violations of aviation regulations.

The passenger had flown into Nigeria on Kenya Airways and called the airline before purchasing her ticket to confirm her eligibility. However, upon arriving in Nairobi for her connecting flight, she was reportedly denied boarding due to visa issues. The NCAA condemned the airline for allowing her to board in the first place if she did not meet the visa requirements.

Furthermore, Kenya Airways' response to a viral video of the altercation, in which an airline agent was heard making inappropriate comments, added to the controversy. The NCAA is now requesting CCTV footage to verify claims that the passenger threw used sanitary towels at staff, a detail disputed by the airline.

While the airline asserts that the passenger acted inappropriately, the NCAA has made it clear that the staff's behavior was unprofessional and that the airline must bear responsibility for the incident.
