BREAKING: Court Stops Pro-Wike Rally in Bayelsa
The High Court of Bayelsa State in Yenagoa has issued an interim injunction restraining former Rivers State Governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and his associate George Turnah from organizing or engaging in any rally in the state.
The ruling was delivered by Hon. Justice I.A. Uzakah on April 3, 2025, following an Ex-Parte motion filed by the Attorney-General of Bayelsa State against Wike, Turnah, and other respondents, including The Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command.
According to the enrolled court order, the judge restrained Wike and Turnah, either directly or through their agents, associates, or representatives, from convening, coordinating, or engaging in any form of rally in Bayelsa.
The legal team representing the Bayelsa State Government included S.M. Okechukwu, Esq., and C.C. Egba, Esq., while Lugard Tare Otu, Esq. appeared for the respondents.
The court's decision comes amid growing political tensions in the South-South region, with concerns over external political influences and the implications for security and governance in Bayelsa State.
The Director of Court Administration, J.N. Daniel (Mrs.), certified the court order as a true copy.
Further developments on the matter are expected as stakeholders react to the ruling.
