BREAKING!! Obi of Onitsha Warns Northern Youths Against Planned Attacks on Igbo Community
The Obi of Onitsha has issued a strong warning to Northern youths following reports of a planned attack on the Igbo community in response to the recent incident in Edo State.
Speaking with firm resolve, the revered traditional ruler cautioned against any retaliatory measures targeting either the Edo people in the North or the Igbo residents there. He stated unequivocally that any harm inflicted on the Edo or Igbo communities, merely because Edo locals defended themselves by eliminating 16 Fulani terrorists who had been terrorizing their region, would not go unanswered. He warned that if such attacks occur, the Igbo will ensure that no Northerner in their midst returns home safely.
The Obi of Onitsha further highlighted the distinct lifestyle of the Igbo in Northern states, emphasizing that unlike criminal elements who operate in secluded forests, Igbo people reside in rented houses and live as law-abiding citizens among their hosts. He pointed out that they do not engage in armed activities within private territories, making them undeserving of any unwarranted aggression.
In a stern message to those contemplating violence, he declared, "If you play a reckless game, you get a reckless result." His statement serves as both a caution and a reaffirmation of the Igbo community’s resolve to defend itself if provoked.
The situation remains tense as authorities and community leaders work to prevent any escalation of hostilities.
