FREEDOM: Hope Rises As Nnamdi Kanu Expresses Confidence In Securing Bail in April, Calls for Stronger Igbo Leadership

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed confidence in securing bail before the end of April 2025, following his prolonged detention since 2021.

During a recent visit by the President-General of the Igbo Community Association (ICA), Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja, Kanu reaffirmed his belief in his legal battle, stating that he remains optimistic about his release.

Ezenekwe, in a statement after the visit, described Kanu as being in good health and high spirits. He noted that despite the circumstances, Kanu remained steadfast in his demand for a referendum on self-determination, which he insists is his only "crime."

Kanu also expressed disappointment over the perceived lack of strong Igbo leadership, emphasizing the need for unity and proactive advocacy for the region’s interests.

Appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ezenekwe urged the Nigerian government to secure Kanu’s release, arguing that such a move would demonstrate a commitment to justice and democratic values.

“I appeal to President Tinubu to take decisive steps to secure the release of our brother and hero, Nnamdi Kanu. Let this moment mark a turning point in protecting the rights, dignity, and future of the Igbo people,” Ezenekwe stated.

Kanu remains hopeful that his legal team will secure his freedom in the coming weeks as his case progresses.
