Tragic Loss of Dr. Vwaere Exposes Nigeria's Culture of Negligence

The hospital's only elevator, which had been in disrepair since 2018, continued to operate despite its deteriorating condition. Instead of addressing the issue properly, funds meant for its replacement were allegedly embezzled. This blatant act of corruption put the lives of everyone who used the elevator in jeopardy.

Tragically, Dr. Vwaere's decision to use the faulty elevator proved fatal. The elevator malfunctioned, plummeting from the 10th floor to the ground with her inside. The horrifying incident not only left her severely injured but also exposed the appalling state of emergency response and medical facilities. The delay in providing prompt medical attention, including the shortage of blood, further underscored the systemic failures that contributed to her untimely death.

Dr. Vwaere's pleas for help while trapped in the elevator echoed the desperation of a young life cut short by negligence. The Mburubu Council of Chiefs, also known as the Igwe Cabinet, has officially disowned Mr. Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, who recently proclaimed himself as the 'Igwe-elect' of Mburubu Kingdom. The council, in a communiqué released on Saturday, vehemently refuted any endorsement or recognition of Onukaibe for the revered position of traditional ruler.
