Dry Season Rice Farming: "Gov. Peter Mbah's Administration Will Leverage on the State's Arable Soil to Foster Industrialization and Spur Economic Growth" - Hon. Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-industrialisation

In a bid to transform Enugu State into a thriving hub for agricultural production and economic growth, the recent inspection of rice fields by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has taken on added significance. Enugu State is poised to capitalize on its agricultural potential, under the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Mbah.

The inspection covered vast rice fields in the Nkanu East Local Government Council, including the extensive Owo, Ubahu, and Amankanu rice fields previously reported. However, it didn't stop there, as the neighboring rice fields in Imeoha Community in Nkerefi were also examined, unveiling an impressive 3,000 hectares of additional rice fields.

The state's commitment to maximizing its agricultural potential is evident, with the Owo, Ubahu, and Amankanu rice fields accounting for an estimated 2,000 hectares. Enugu State's dedication to agricultural development is clear, and the region is poised to play a significant role in Nigeria's food security.

The inspection team was led by Hon. Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation in Enugu State, and accompanied by Mrs. Ihuoma Eze, the State Project Coordinator of the Agro Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Support (APPEALS) project.

This comprehensive evaluation is part of Enugu State's preparations for the upcoming dry season farming, aligning with Governor Peter Mbah's vision to transform the state into a cash crop export hub and alleviate poverty among its residents.

During a media briefing, Hon. Patrick Nwabueze Ubru emphasized the state's proactive measures. Enugu is establishing a land bank to facilitate land acquisition for agricultural purposes, aiming to attract domestic and foreign investments. This strategic move is expected to drive industrialization and economic growth within the state.

With the combined efforts of the state government and federal support, Enugu State is poised to make significant strides in agricultural development and economic prosperity during the upcoming dry season. The inspection has laid the foundation for a promising future in rice farming in the region, contributing to Nigeria's overall food security.
