JUST IN: Prince Charles Maduekwe Emerges New PG Umunevo Ogui Nike Town

 


Umunevo Ogui Nike Town Union held an election in which Prince Charles Maduekwe was elected as the new President General of the Town. The election which held today, Friday, the 12th of July 2024, also produced Hon Okechukwu Onunze was elected as Secretary, taking on a crucial role in the community.


The election was conducted at the residence of Elder Chief Joseph Ngwu Anike, the town's eldest man. It was praised for being one of the most free and fair elections in the community's history, with many stakeholders present to witness the event.


In his handover speech, the outgoing town union president, Hon Chinulu Edeh, commended Prince Charles Maduekwe, highlighting his leadership abilities and experience. "Prince Charles Maduekwe is a Godsend," Edeh remarked. "He has the capability and experience to lead our town well and to represent our community with honor wherever he is called upon."


Hon Emeka Onunze (TATA), the former Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, expressed his appreciation for the unity demonstrated in the town and the peaceful manner in which the election was conducted. He stressed the significance of the Umunevo Ogui Nike Community within the Enugu North Local Government Council and the Enugu East Senatorial Zone. "The peaceful and transparent election we have witnessed today is a testament to our unity and commitment to progress. Umunevo Ogui Nike Community is a key part of our local government and the entire senatorial zone," Onunze stated.


Another key figure, Hon Chief Emma O Ngwu, a previous Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Council, offered advice and encouragement to the newly elected President General and the attendees. "Leadership is a great responsibility," Ngwu advised. "Prince Charles, as you step into this role, remember to always put the community first. Lead with integrity, and you will take Umunevo Ogui Nike to greater heights."


In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President General, Prince Charles Maduekwe, expressed deep gratitude for the community's trust in him. "I am deeply honored by the trust you have placed in me," Maduekwe said. "I pledge to lead with integrity and dedication, promising never to disappoint those who chose me for this esteemed role. Together, we will build a brighter future for our community."


The election, which began around 8 AM, was successfully conducted according to the community's constitution. Other notable stakeholders who attended the election included Chief Benneth Ngwu, Elder Joseph Mbah, Elder Sunday Agbo, Surv Azubuike Agbo, Chief Chuka Agbo, and several others.


The community holds high hopes that Prince Charles Maduekwe, a former permanent secretary, will excel in his role as President General, guiding Umunevo Ogui Nike Town towards a prosperous future.
