SAD! Angry Mob Burn Two Suspected Phone Snatchers Alive

Two suspected phone thieves were lynched and set ablaze by an angry mob on Friday morning in the Kabong community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State. The incident occurred in the early hours when the suspects were allegedly attacking passersby and road users, robbing them of their phones and other valuables.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects had been terrorizing the community for some time, frequently seizing phones, laptops, and money from residents. On this occasion, a mob quickly gathered after the thieves struck again, chasing and apprehending them. While some of the thieves managed to flee, the two men were caught and brutally set on fire by the crowd.

A local resident, Mathew Ignatius, confirmed the incident, stating: “It happened this morning. They had been terrorizing the community, and today when they attacked again, a mob gave chase. They caught two of them and immediately set them on fire.”

In response to the attack, the Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident. The police issued a statement through their spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, which explained that the distress call came in around 9:20 AM. Officers were quickly dispatched to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the mob had already carried out the fatal act.

The police recovered two locally made pistols believed to belong to the suspected thieves. The charred bodies of the suspects were evacuated and deposited at a hospital morgue.

While the Plateau State Police condemned the actions of armed robbers and cultists, they also strongly denounced the mob's use of jungle justice. Police Commissioner CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands and instead hand over suspected criminals to the authorities for proper investigation and prosecution.

“While we understand the anger and frustration of the public, such actions only complicate matters and hinder the rule of law,” the statement read. “Citizens should report suspects to the police or other relevant authorities, as jungle justice will not be tolerated.”

The Plateau State Police Command has assured residents that measures are in place to enhance security and prevent further incidents of this nature. The police also called on members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
