NKANU WEST: Hon John Ogbodo Holds Strategic Meeting Aheads Christmas Season


In a bid to ensure a crime-free and traffic-smooth Christmas holiday, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, convened a crucial security meeting with heads of key security agencies on Tuesday, 10th of December 2024. The meeting, which included officials from the Police, Army, Road Safety, Civil Defence, DSS, the Commandant of the Neighborhood Watch, and the Chief Security Officer of the area, underscores the administration's commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, especially as the Christmas season approaches.

Speaking after the closed-door session, Hon. Ogbodo emphasized the importance of taking proactive measures to address security concerns, particularly as many people will be returning to the local government area for the holiday festivities. He assured the public that comprehensive plans are in place to prevent any security breaches and ensure a peaceful holiday period for both residents and visitors.

The council chairman further revealed that attention will be given to traffic management at key points in the local government area, including the Four Corners Express, Ozalla, Enugu Road, Agbani by Amurri-Eke Market Junction, and the Orie-Mba Junction in Akpugo. These strategic locations will be closely monitored to ensure the free flow of traffic and prevent congestion, which is typically high during the holiday season.

Hon. Ogbodo's actions align with the broader security measures being championed by the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah. The governor has been vocal about the need for heightened security during the Yuletide, and Hon. Ogbodo’s meeting with the security heads is seen as a direct support of the governor’s vision. This collaboration ensures that the local government’s security strategy is synchronized with state-level efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety.

The Nkanu West LG boss further called on the residents of the area to cooperate with security agents, urging them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest security personnel. He assured that his administration is fully committed to a secure and peaceful environment during the Christmas celebrations.

As part of the ongoing partnership with the state government, Hon. Ogbodo’s efforts reflect the collective commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents during the festive period.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA).
