In addition, the President of the Nsukka Youths General Assembly (NYGA), Amb. Dr. Clinton Gbonna, will lead the assembly’s efforts in ensuring a memorable celebration for all. His leadership continues to drive youth engagement in cultural preservation and community development.

The lead-up to the Igbo Nsukka Day celebration includes the Igbo Nsukka Zonal Football Competition, which will begin on Friday, December 13th, 2024, at the Nsukka Township Stadium. The competition features teams from across the region, with the following matches scheduled:

The football tournament aims to build excitement for the main cultural event while fostering community spirit among the region's youths. It is expected to draw a large crowd and generate great enthusiasm among both participants and spectators.

Dr. Clinton Gbonna emphasized the importance of the upcoming celebrations, noting that Igbo Nsukka Day is a significant occasion for all Nsukka people to reflect on their shared heritage and achievements. “This celebration is about coming together as one people, to acknowledge our history, culture, and the strength of our community,” Dr. Gbonna explained. “We are excited to see the continued support from our local government leaders, and we invite all Nsukka youths and well-wishers to participate in what promises to be a memorable day.”

The event is poised to be a highlight of the festive season for the people of Nsukka, with a mix of traditional performances, cultural exhibitions, and speeches. As the celebration draws near, anticipation is growing for a remarkable gathering that will showcase the beauty and resilience of Nsukka’s cultural identity.
