Enugu North LGA Partners with Physiotherapists to Mark World Physiotherapy Day 2025

Enugu North Local Government Area, under the leadership of Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, has joined forces with the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy, Enugu State Chapter, to commemorate this year’s World Physiotherapy Day with the theme “Healthy Ageing: Prevention of Fall and Frailty.”

The commemoration, scheduled to hold tomorrow, Monday, 8th September 2025, at the Enugu North LGA Secretariat by 10:00 AM, is open to all residents and indigenes, particularly the aged and elderly, who stand to benefit from a range of healthcare initiatives tailored to enhance their well-being.

Activities lined up for the event include free physiotherapy services, exercise training, health education sessions, and public awareness campaigns through both radio and community outreach. The program is designed to encourage preventive healthcare practices that will help reduce cases of falls and frailty among the elderly, while also sensitizing the public on the importance of physiotherapy in promoting quality of life.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Dr. Onoh emphasized that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to building a stronger, healthier Enugu North LGA through early intervention and continuous health education. He noted that focusing on preventive healthcare not only improves the quality of life for the elderly but also reduces the burden on families and the wider healthcare system.

By partnering with the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy, Enugu North LGA is setting the pace in promoting community-centered health programs that prioritize the welfare of its people, ensuring that senior citizens remain active, safe, and supported in their later years.
