The ongoing sensitization drive for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Awgu and Aninri Local Government Areas received a major boost on Thursday, 11th September 2025, with the presence of the Special Adviser to the Governor of Enugu State on Political Matters, High Chief Hon. Frank Aniomah (Ezesinachi), who emphasized that voter registration remains the inalienable right of every adult citizen.
The sensitization exercise, which focused on deepening voter education and grassroots mobilization, was described as a vital step toward inclusive governance and active democratic participation. High Chief Aniomah, while addressing the enthusiastic crowd, stressed the importance of every eligible Nigerian taking advantage of the window of opportunity to register, update, or replace their voter’s card.
“Voter registration is the foundation of democratic participation. Without a voter’s card, your voices cannot be heard and the future we desire cannot be secured. Governor Mbah’s audacious reforms and exceptional strides have positioned Enugu State on the path of exponential growth across all critical sectors of the economy. I sincerely call on Traditional Institutions, Town Union Leaders, Youth groups, Women organizations, the Clergy and laity to mobilize their members toward this all-important civic responsibility,” Chief Aniomah stated.
He further urged young people who recently attained the age of 18, those who have relocated, or anyone with anomalies in their cards to use this opportunity to regularize their registration.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Chief Dr. Martins Chukwunweike, also encouraged the people of Awgu and Aninri to embrace the ongoing exercise wholeheartedly. He called on communities to mobilize neighbors, friends, and family members to ensure that no eligible person is left behind.
The event, which was highly attended, showcased the solidarity of the PDP State leadership. Among those present were the Deputy State Chairman, Barr. Steve Oruruo; State Secretary, Hon. Chukwudi Nnaedozie; State Woman Leader, Hon. Peace Patrick; and other members of the PDP State Executive Council.
The sensitization drive was marked by a renewed commitment to grassroots political education, with leaders reiterating that voter registration is not just a civic duty but a powerful tool for shaping the future of Enugu State and Nigeria at large.
