JUST IN: Miyetti Allah Hails Enugu Govt. Over Peaceful Intervention in Herders’ Attack

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has commended the Enugu State Government for its peaceful intervention in the recent attack on herders in the state.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Enugu by the National Deputy Director of MACBAN, Mr. Gidado Siddiki.

Siddiki, while acknowledging the efforts of Governor Peter Mbah’s administration in ensuring peace and justice, expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to protecting all lawful trades in the state.

According to him, the attack on six herders and the rustling of over 100 cattle was unfortunate, but the swift intervention of the state government and security agencies helped in restoring calm.

“We sincerely acknowledge the steadfastness of the state government and security agencies in protecting lives and property across the state. We also note with appreciation the assurance given by the government that the perpetrators of these heinous attacks will be brought to book and made to face justice,” Siddiki stated.

He, however, urged for greater efforts to prevent the recurrence of such incidents against MACBAN members, stressing the importance of continued collaboration to ensure peace and security for all residents.

Siddiki extended sympathy to the bereaved families, describing their loss as “a collective loss,” and reassured members that engagements with the government had been fruitful.

“Notably, the recent incident occurred deep inside the forest, and without the intervention of the authorities, we would not have been able to recover the corpses for burial in accordance with Islamic rites,” he added.

The association pledged continued cooperation with the government while emphasizing its reliance on state institutions to address and prevent further acts of violence against herders.
