Empowerment Revolution: NYGA Doles Out Millions in Business and Student Grants

Led by Amb. Dr. Clinton Ogbonna, the Nsukka Youth General Assembly (NYGA) launches a transformative empowerment drive, inspiring hope, innovation, and self-reliance across Enugu North Senatorial District.

The long-awaited Nsukka Youth General Assembly (NYGA) Small Business and Students Grant Empowerment 1.0, held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Adada House, Nsukka, has redefined the meaning of youth empowerment in the Nsukka socio-cultural zone of Enugu State.

The landmark event brought together energetic youths from Nsukka, Igbo-Eze South, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo Etiti, Udenu, and Uzo Uwani Local Government Areas, filling the atmosphere with excitement and renewed hope as hundreds of beneficiaries received millions of naira in direct financial grants to support business startups and academic advancement.

The initiative, conceived and driven by the National President of the Nsukka Youth General Assembly, Amb. Dr. Clinton Ogbonna, represents a bold and visionary effort to build the capacity of young people, foster self-reliance, and stimulate innovation throughout the Nsukka zone. Young entrepreneurs and students were visibly elated as they received financial lifelines that will help them scale their enterprises, fund their education, and contribute to local development.

In his keynote remarks, Dr. Ogbonna expressed profound gratitude to all donors and partners whose support made the programme a resounding success. He also commended His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, for his youth-oriented leadership and unwavering commitment to human capital development.

Beneficiaries, brimming with joy, described the initiative as “a turning point” and applauded Dr. Ogbonna’s visionary leadership and NYGA’s transparent execution. Many pledged to make judicious use of the funds to grow viable businesses and further their education.

Observers and stakeholders hailed the NYGA Empowerment Programme as a model of grassroots development, perfectly aligning with Governor Mbah’s “Tomorrow is Here” vision, which promotes innovation, productivity, and economic empowerment among young people.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA). The tragic incident occurred on September 14, 2024, when Mr. Aniagu was shot at Moses Ogbodo Junction near Topland Market in Amaechi, Enugu South Local Government Area.   Parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Friday, the Spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that the arrests were the result of diligent intelligence work and coordinated efforts between detectives from the Anti-Robbery Section (D9) of the State CID and operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad.   The suspects were identified as Chukwudi Aboshi, a 28-year-old native of Anike in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and Ani Innocent Ebuka, also known as “Excellent,” a driver and native of Isigwe-Ugbawka in Nkanu East Local Government Area. [VIDEO] Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Invade Enugu Community, Attack Residents

   Residents of  Ikedinkpa Affa , a community in  Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State , have raised alarm over an alleged invasion by suspected  Fulani herdsmen , leading to attacks and heightened tension in the area. In a disturbing video shared online by  Mr. Emeka Amadi , an indigene of the community, he decried the growing insecurity, stating that armed assailants had taken over parts of the community.
