Enugu Ex-Lawmaker Resigns from PDP, Joins Governor Peter Mbah in APC

In a major political development, Rt. Hon. Sir Ugwueze Erochukwu Matthew (KSJI), JP, former Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly who represented Igboeze South Constituency, and immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared his decision to join Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Rt. Hon. Ugwueze, a respected political leader from Echara/Isiagu Political Ward in Igboeze South Local Government Area, announced his resignation through an official letter addressed to the ward chairman, dated October 13, 2025.

In the letter, Rt. Hon. Ugwueze expressed deep appreciation to the PDP for the platform and opportunities he had enjoyed over the years but emphasized that his decision was driven by a renewed conviction to align with Governor Mbah’s forward-thinking and transformative vision for Enugu State.

LETTER OF RESIGNATION FROM THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP)

I wish to formally tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from today, 13th October, 2025.

This decision was not made lightly, as I remain eternally grateful to the PDP for the many years of fruitful political association, mentorship, and service opportunities it provided me, particularly as a former Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, representing Igboeze South Constituency, and as a Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters.

However, after careful consideration of the evolving political landscape in Enugu State and Nigeria at large, I have chosen to align with His Excellency, Barr. (Dr.) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, in his new political direction under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

My decision is born out of a deep belief in Governor Mbah’s transformative governance style, visionary leadership, and pragmatic approach to development, which have already begun to redefine Enugu’s future. I am convinced that the Governor’s new political pathway represents a unifying movement for progress, innovation, and inclusive growth in our dear state.

I therefore humbly wish to assure His Excellency of my unwavering loyalty and commitment to the continued success of his administration and to the collective advancement of Enugu State.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his resignation, Rt. Hon. Ugwueze described Governor Mbah as “a transformational leader with uncommon courage and clarity of purpose.”

 “Governor Mbah’s political philosophy transcends party lines,” Ugwueze said. “He represents a movement of development, discipline, and delivery. I am proud to stand with him as he charts a new course for Enugu State in the APC.”

He called on his supporters in Igboeze South and across the state to remain steadfast and to rally behind Governor Mbah’s bold developmental vision, assuring that his new political alignment was not about personal ambition but about contributing to a larger mission for Enugu’s progress.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA). [VIDEO] Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Invade Enugu Community, Attack Residents

   Residents of  Ikedinkpa Affa , a community in  Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State , have raised alarm over an alleged invasion by suspected  Fulani herdsmen , leading to attacks and heightened tension in the area.
