Hon John Ogbodo Reaffirms Nkanu West LGA’s Readiness to Support Gov. Peter Mbah In Any Political Direction

The Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government AreaHon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, has declared his total loyalty and readiness to follow Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to any political party of his choice, including the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Ogbodo made the statement today at the Nkanu West Council Headquarters, Agbani, while addressing a gathering of party faithful, stakeholders, and political leaders on the ongoing defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in Enugu State.

“I am ready, and Nkanu West Local Government is equally ready and has since resolved to follow our leader, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to any political party of his choice — be it APC,” Hon. Ogbodo declared.

Describing Governor Mbah as a visionary and people-oriented leader, Ogbodo praised the Governor for his outstanding developmental strides and unrelenting commitment to the welfare of the people of Enugu State. He emphasized that Nkanu West LGA had long pledged unwavering support to the Governor and trusted his judgment in charting the political and developmental direction of the state.

“Governor Mbah is a leader with the interest of his people at heart,” he said. “He has demonstrated genuine love and leadership through the numerous infrastructural projects across Enugu State. He is a man to be trusted.”

Also speaking at the gathering, the Member representing Nkanu West Constituency in the Enugu State House of AssemblyRt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu, described politics as a continuous journey shaped by circumstances and evolving interests.

“Our obligation as party members is to follow our leader, and in this case, our leader has capacity and has shown capacity,” Aniagu stated. “Governor Mbah’s performance has been exemplary. He could have won the 2027 election irrespective of party affiliation.”

Aniagu further lauded Governor Mbah’s visionary leadership, particularly his establishment of Enugu Air and other enterprising ventures that have placed Enugu State on the global map. He expressed optimism that the state’s defection to the APC would yield immense benefits and deepen its integration into national politics.

In his remarks, Barr. Sam Ogbu Nwobodo described Governor Mbah as “the beautiful pride sought after by the APC because of his superlative performance.” He expressed confidence that the state’s realignment with the APC would connect Enugu directly to the federal government, ensuring increased access to developmental opportunities.

Also speaking, the Senior Adviser to the Governor on MediaHon. Dan Nwomeh, expressed delight at the state’s political realignment, noting that the move would ensure Enugu’s active participation in national politics and foster strategic inclusion.

“Igbos are smart people, and it is important that we align with the federal government to develop our region,” Nwomeh said. “Politics is not about emotion; it’s about who gets what. This move is a step in the right direction.”

Nwomeh urged political stakeholders and party members to embark on aggressive enlightenment and grassroots sensitization, educating citizens on the numerous benefits of aligning with the ruling party at the centre.

In their separate remarks, the Traditional Rulers of Obuoffia and Attakwu Autonomous CommunitiesHRH Barr. Obiora Igwesi and HRH Igwe Gregory Ugwu, commended Governor Mbah for what they described as a “wise and well-considered decision.” They encouraged the people not to be apprehensive about joining the APC, stressing that the move would integrate Enugu into mainstream national politics.

“It is better to join the mainstream party than to remain in opposition,” the royal fathers said. “With this defection, Enugu will benefit greatly from federal participation.”

They further called for a massive mobilization mission across the wards to sensitize the people on the advantages of the political transition.

In their goodwill messages, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Nkanu West Legislative CouncilHon. Barr. Iren Nnamani, and the Coordinator of Nkanu West Town Union PresidentsMr. Jonathan Ugwu, pledged full support to the Governor’s political direction, vowing to mobilize grassroots support for the new party alignment.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Nkanu West PDP ChairmanHon. Sunday Onovo, described the defection wave as a welcome development, urging stakeholders to intensify political mobilization and ensure unity of purpose as the state embarks on a new chapter under Governor Mbah’s leadership.

“This is a time for more work and greater commitment,” Onovo stated. “Our local and ward structures must continue to work in synergy to deliver our party and our Governor in future elections.”

The event, which drew large attendance from political stakeholders, youth groups, traditional institutions, and women leaders, was characterized by solidarity chants and reaffirmations of loyalty to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s transformative leadership, as Nkanu West pledged to stand firmly with him in any political direction he chooses.
