NEWS FLASH: Peter Obi Denies Report Calling for Uche Nnaji’s Prosecution, Labels It Fake and Misleading

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has distanced himself from a circulating media report claiming he called for the prosecution of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, over alleged certificate forgery.


Obi described the publication, which was headlined “Peter Obi Calls for Immediate Prosecution of Uche Nnaji, Other Officials Involved in Certificate Forgery,” as false, misleading, and fabricated, stressing that no such statement emanated from him or his media team.


The former governor of Anambra State expressed dismay that certain online platforms and social media pages had published and shared the false report without verification, thereby attempting to drag his name into a matter with which he has no connection. He noted that the development reflects a growing culture of misinformation that undermines public trust and journalistic integrity in Nigeria’s media space.


Obi clarified that he never made any comment regarding Chief Uche Nnaji or any serving minister and that those behind the story were engaging in deliberate propaganda aimed at misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension.


The Labour Party’s standard-bearer, known for his measured and factual communication style, reaffirmed his commitment to responsible leadership and national unity, urging the public to disregard the publication and be wary of politically motivated misinformation.


He emphasized that the report did not originate from any credible source and stands as one of the many fake news items fabricated to tarnish his image and sow division among political figures.


Observers note that the publication appeared shortly after a controversial report resurfaced regarding Chief Nnaji’s academic record, an issue which the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has since clarified and corrected.


Peter Obi’s timely denial has been widely praised by supporters and political watchers, who commended him for swiftly addressing the falsehood and reaffirming his respect for truth, due process, and all individuals serving the nation in various capacities.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA).    Residents of  Ikedinkpa Affa , a community in  Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State , have raised alarm over an alleged invasion by suspected  Fulani herdsmen , leading to attacks and heightened tension in the area. In a disturbing video shared online by  Mr. Emeka Amadi , an indigene of the community, he decried the growing insecurity, stating that armed assailants had taken over parts of the community.
