Senator Kelvin Chizoba Chukwu Officially Defects to APC Amidst Jubilation at the Senate and in Enugu East Senatorial Zone

The political landscape of the Nigerian Senate witnessed a dramatic shift today as Distinguished Senator Kelvin Chizoba Chukwu, representing Enugu East Senatorial District, officially announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during plenary.


The defection, which had been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, was formally made on the floor of the Senate and was greeted with cheers and jubilation from APC lawmakers and their supporters.


Senator Chukwu, in a brief remark following his announcement, stated that his decision to join the ruling party was driven by a commitment to bring greater development to his constituency and align with the progressive agenda of the APC-led Federal Government.


The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, formally welcomed Senator Chukwu into the APC fold, describing his move as a significant boost to the party’s strength in the Upper Chamber. Akpabio assured Chukwu of the party’s support and commended him for taking what he called “a bold and patriotic step.”


Also present to welcome the defecting lawmaker were Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Senate Chief Whip, and other prominent APC senators who joined in the celebration on the floor.


The defection ceremony turned into a moment of high spirits as fellow APC lawmakers applauded and exchanged warm embraces with Senator Chukwu, highlighting the growing influence of the ruling party in the National Assembly.


Political analysts say the defection could alter the dynamics of political alignments ahead of upcoming national and state elections, especially in the South-East where Senator Chukwu wields considerable influence.


The Senate later proceeded with its legislative business after the formalities, but the excitement over the defection lingered as discussions continued in the corridors of the National Assembly.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA). [VIDEO] Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Invade Enugu Community, Attack Residents

   Residents of  Ikedinkpa Affa , a community in  Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State , have raised alarm over an alleged invasion by suspected  Fulani herdsmen , leading to attacks and heightened tension in the area. In a disturbing video shared online by  Mr. Emeka Amadi , an indigene of the community, he decried the growing insecurity, stating that armed assailants had taken over parts of the community.
