Enugu State Tourism Board Unveils Innovative Vision for Tourism Transformation


The Enugu State Tourism Board is embarking on a bold mission to revitalize the state's tourism sector through strategic partnerships with investors and stakeholders. Dame Rita Mbah, the newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Board, unveiled this ambitious commitment during a press conference held on Tuesday.

Dame Rita Mbah, in her address, emphasized the magnitude of the task ahead. She recognized that the development of Enugu's abundant tourist sites and resources necessitates collaboration with both local and international investors. She reiterated the administration's dedication to being "investment-driven" under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah.

"We firmly believe that tourism is a substantial economic endeavor. Thus, here at the Tourism Board, we are extending an invitation to both local and international investors to join hands with the State in cultivating our tourist sites and advancing the tourism industry at large," stated Dame Rita Mbah.

To execute this ambitious vision, the Enugu Tourism Board intends to engage an array of stakeholders in the creative, cultural, and hospitality industries. Their outreach includes collaboration with community leaders, traditional rulers, key government agencies such as the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), as well as organizations in the hotels, retail, and finance sectors.

The primary objective of this partnership initiative is to rejuvenate Enugu's tourism, crafting a positive destination identity for "DESTINATION Enugu." Part of the strategy involves the digitalization of cultural heritage and tourist sites to augment their discoverability and accessibility to both local and international tourists.

In addition, the Tourism Board aims to work closely with broadcasters and media agencies to promote Enugu State on a global scale. They envision the development of a comprehensive 12-month cultural and tourism calendar, set to commence during the forthcoming Christmas season.

Concluding her remarks, Dame Rita Mbah expressed her profound gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah for the trust placed in her through her appointment. She conveyed her excitement and deep sense of honor in being called to lead these transformative efforts. She also extended a warm invitation for the media's support and constructive feedback, underlining the collective potential to make Enugu a destination of pride and distinction.

The Enugu State Tourism Board's vision marks a promising chapter in the state's journey to becoming a prominent tourism destination, with collaborative efforts and innovation at its core.

Enugu: Mburubu 'Kingmakers' Council of Chiefs Denounce Controversial Self- Acclaimed Traditional Ruler

The Mburubu Council of Chiefs, also known as the Igwe Cabinet, has officially disowned Mr. Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, who recently proclaimed himself as the 'Igwe-elect' of Mburubu Kingdom. The council, in a communiqué released on Saturday, vehemently refuted any endorsement or recognition of Onukaibe for the revered position of traditional ruler.
