Job Career & Employability Fair/Business Clinic: Enugu Commissioner, Ugwuoke Underscores the Critical Role of Skill Acquisition in Curbing the Escalating Unemployment Rates.

Enugu State Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Pharm Chika Ugwuoke, underscores the critical role of skill acquisition in tackling the state's unemployment crisis, with rates nearing 40%. At a Job Career and Employability Fair, he emphasizes the government's commitment to partnering with organizations like the Bank of Industry and the National Directorate of Employment.

Key partners, including 7up Bottling Company, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, Juhel Pharmaceutical Company, and others, support the event themed "Promoting Employability, Skills/Business Development Are Decent Work In South-East." Ugwuoke stresses the need for qualities like passion and team spirit in youth employment, emphasizing the government's determination to create job opportunities.

NECA Director-General, Mr Adewale Onyerinde, highlights the organization's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibilities, aiming to bridge the skills gap and equip Enugu youths for employment. Barnabas Hope Foundation's Executive Director, Mrs Chinelo Chime, notes that despite existing opportunities, graduates often lack essential skills desired by employers due to factors like globalization and technology dominance.

Gloria Chime, Programme Lead of Barnabas Hope Foundation, explains the job fair's purpose—providing a platform for youths to learn CV writing and effective self-presentation. The event also facilitates data collection for organizations, aiming to absorb those demonstrating employability.

The collaborative efforts of government bodies, private institutions, and NGOs like Barnabas Hope Foundation signify a unified approach to reduce unemployment and foster economic growth in Enugu State.
