Enugu Ex-Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Continues to Save Lives With the Instrumentality of Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme


In a continuous display of unwavering commitment to the well-being of citizens, the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, through his Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, has recently saved two lives in a series of successful surgeries.

The initiative, extending beyond Ugwuanyi's tenure, continues to draw admiration across the South East region, exemplifying his dedication to the healthcare needs of Enugu residents. Today, on the 13th of December 2023, the programme conducted life-saving surgeries, marking another milestone in its impactful journey.

Chinweokwu Adonu, a 2-year-old from Onicha Enugu-Ezike, residing in Lagos State, was the recipient of corrective surgery for Right Hydrocoele of the Cord. The parents, facing financial constraints, sought the intervention of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, transcending geographic boundaries to bring relief to their child.

In the same series of operations, 17-year-old Miss Eze Jennifer from Orba Town in Udenu Local Government Council underwent a Lumpectomy to address a complex breast lump. Her successful surgery stands as a testament to the programme's efficacy in tackling diverse medical challenges.

Having saved over 1,300 lives in Enugu State, the Free Surgery initiative continues to make a profound impact. In an interview with FountainCare Reporters, Dr. George Ajogwu, the Director General of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, expressed gratitude to Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for founding and financing this vital healthcare initiative, emphasizing the former governor's commitment to "Humanity First."


Dr. Ajogwu highlighted two key reasons driving Ugwuanyi's support for the healthcare initiative. Firstly, it reflects his profound love for the people of Enugu State. Secondly, it serves as a form of endorsement and support for the current administration led by His Excellency Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, and his Deputy, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai. Dr. Ajogwu commended the current administration for delivering on their promises and asserted that their capable governance deserves the continuous support of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The Mburubu Council of Chiefs, also known as the Igwe Cabinet, has officially disowned Mr. Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, who recently proclaimed himself as the 'Igwe-elect' of Mburubu Kingdom.
