Commissioner Pledges Government's Support to People Living with Disabilities in Enugu State


The Enugu State Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih, has demonstrated the government's commitment to the well-being of its citizens, especially those with special needs, during a heartwarming visit to the Special School for the Blind, Deaf, and Dumb in Oji-River, Enugu State.

During her visit, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih generously donated essential items, including food items and toiletries, to the residents of the Special School. The gesture was met with gratitude from the management and residents, who expressed their surprise and appreciation for the unexpected visit.

Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih also met with wounded soldiers, war Veterans and those living with leprosy settling in Oji-River, emphasizing the government's recognition of their sacrifices. She pledged continued support from the Enugu State government to people living with disabilities, assuring them that their concerns are heard and will be addressed.

In her speech, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih conveyed a message from the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, and his wife, Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah. She explained that the governor, despite his demanding schedule, is aware of the challenges faced by these communities, prompting her visit to assess their well-being.

Highlighting the government's commitment to inclusivity, she assured the residents that their reports and concerns are welcomed. She conveyed the governor's assurance that their messages will reach him, emphasizing the government's dedication to addressing the needs of all communities and groups across the state, she said; "It is truly an honor and a privilege to stand before you today on behalf of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, I extend warm greetings and sincere gratitude for welcoming us into your community" 

"today's visit is not just a routine engagement; rather, it is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our administration to reach every corner of our beloved state, ensuring that no one is left behind"

"as we share this moment together, let me convey the Governor's heartfelt message; He is aware of the challenges you face, and he genuinely cares about your well-being. His tight schedule may prevent him from being physically present, but his heart is right here with us. The Governor sent me to assure you that your voices are heard, your struggles acknowledged, and your dreams valued"

"Our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond mere words; it is reflected in the tangible support we provide and the genuine connections we seek to foster. Together, we shall build a more compassionate, understanding, and inclusive Enugu State, where the strength of our unity is measured by the care and support we extend to one another" Mrs Enih Concluded.

Expressing their heartfelt appreciation, the management of the Special School For the Blind, Deaf, and Dumb in Oji-River thanked Hon. Mrs Ngozi Enih for her benevolence. They noted that such visits are rare, especially outside political campaign periods, and conveyed their surprise and gratitude for the genuine concern shown by the government.

In their prayers, they beseeched divine blessings upon the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Mbah, expressing gratitude for his remembrance of their community and trusting that the government's innovative approach will bring positive changes to their lives.

The visit stands as a testament to the Enugu State government's commitment to fostering inclusivity, compassion, and positive transformation in every corner of the state.
