Ugwuanyi's Free Surgery Programme Saves Two Children with Hydrocoele of the Cord ...Two Others with Different Surgical Conditions Restored in Latest Intervention


In their continued display of humanitarianism and medical expertise, the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, founded and funded by the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, saved two children and two others in a surgical intervention that took place on the 10th of April, 2024, at the Julius Ajogwu Memorial Hospital in Nsukka, marking the programme's 28th series in its 2024 schedule.


According to reports by FountainCare Reporters, the four new beneficiaries who were suffering from different surgical conditions were restored by the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme during their latest free surgical exercise. The beneficiaries testified to their circumstances and the intervention into their cases.



1. Odo Onyekachukwu (2 years, 4 months)

Odo Onyekachukwu, a toddler residing in Adaba Nkume, Enugu State, was diagnosed with a left hydrocoele of the cord, a condition where fluid accumulates in the scrotum. This condition can lead to discomfort and potential complications if left untreated.

● Procedure: Corrective surgery

To address this ailment, Odo underwent corrective surgery, a procedure aimed at repairing the hernia and relieving the symptoms associated with it. This surgical intervention aimed to improve Odo's quality of life and prevent further complications as he grows.



2. Attah Micheal (2 years)

Attah Micheal, a two-year-old resident of Nru Nsukka, Enugu State, was diagnosed with a right hydrocoele of the cord, similar to Odo's condition. This condition required prompt medical attention to prevent complications and alleviate discomfort.

Like Odo, Attah underwent corrective surgery to address the hydrocoele of the cord. This procedure aimed to repair the hernia and restore normal function to the affected area, ensuring Attah's well-being and health as he continues to grow.



3. Ngwu Agatha (Adult).

4. Okeke Chinwe (Adult).

To address the lipoma, Okeke underwent a lumpectomy procedure. This surgical intervention aimed to remove the lipoma and alleviate any discomfort or cosmetic concerns associated with it, ensuring Okeke's comfort and well-being.


While responding to FountainCare Reporters news correspondents, Dr. George Ajogwu, the Director-General of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, extended heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support.
