INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT YOUR DOOR STEP

October 1st is a significant day in Nigeria as it marks the country’s Independence Day. This year, the celebration will honour 64 years of independence from British colonial rule, commemorating the struggles and sacrifices of past heroes who fought for Nigeria's freedom.


Festivities typically include parades, cultural performances, and speeches by Enugu State Government officials, emphasizing national unity and progress. 


The celebration serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to build a prosperous future, fostering hope and resilience among the populace. As the date approaches, there is a palpable sense of pride and anticipation throughout the nation, the economic downturn notwithstanding. 


Hence, Ministry of Information and Communication Enugu State invites all to key into its media packages that will bring live programmes of the celebration to your door steps.


The packages include a radio programme featuring 3 radio stations -  Urban Radio 94.5, Dream FM 92.5 and ESBS Sunrise FM 91.1 starting by 12 Noon on Tuesday 1st October, 2024. To bring more allure to the general plublic, the Ministry shall be streaming live comments by celebrants at Okpara Square through our phone-in programme from our reporters via the Ministry's Facebook platform named The New Narrative. The intention is to bring the people at speed with the programme from the comfort of their homes. 


In conclusion, Ministry of Information and Communication Enugu State joins other well meaning Nigerians to reflect on the numerous achievements of the current administration of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as we seek  the collective growth and wellbeing of our dear Enugu State and Nigeria.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA). The tragic incident occurred on September 14, 2024, when Mr. Aniagu was shot at Moses Ogbodo Junction near Topland Market in Amaechi, Enugu South Local Government Area.   Parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Friday, the Spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that the arrests were the result of diligent intelligence work and coordinated efforts between detectives from the Anti-Robbery Section (D9) of the State CID and operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad.   The suspects were identified as Chukwudi Aboshi, a 28-year-old native of Anike in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and Ani Innocent Ebuka, also known as “Excellent,” a driver and native of Isigwe-Ugbawka in Nkanu East Local Government Area. A dramatic incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning at a hotel in Agbani, Enugu State, when a woman, popularly known as Madam Gold , attacked a young lady, Ijeoma Nnamani, over an alleged affair with her sugar boy, identified as Micheal Ozoh. The altercation, which took place around 5 a.m., reportedly began when Madam Gold stormed the hotel, banging on the door of the room occupied by Micheal and Ijeoma. Madam Gold, known locally as the owner of a popular beer parlour joint in the area, allegedly forced her way into the room and unleashed a physical attack on Ijeoma upon finding the pair together.
