Hon. John Ogbodo, the newly elected Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Council, has extended heartfelt appreciation to the people of Nkanu West for their overwhelming support in the just-concluded local government elections. In a message of gratitude, Ogbodo thanked Governor Peter Mbah for his visionary leadership and commended the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) for ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process. He emphasized his commitment to working diligently in line with the collective goal of building an inclusive and thriving Nkanu West, aligning with the broader vision for Enugu State's progress.

Dear Good People of Nkanu West,

May I first of all express my profound appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the progress of Enugu State. His administration’s commitment to economic growth, infrastructure development, and good governance will serve as a guiding principle as we work to elevate Nkanu West and align with the broader vision for a more prosperous state.


Ndi Nkanu West, I am deeply honored to have been declared the winner and returned as your Chairman-elect. This victory is a reflection of your overwhelming support and belief in our collective goal for an inclusive and thriving Local Government Council (LGC). I sincerely thank you for placing your trust in me, and I pledge to work diligently to meet your expectations and drive the development we all envision for our LGA.


I also extend my gratitude to the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) for conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible election. Their dedication to upholding democratic principles has reinforced our faith in the process. Together, with all stakeholders, we will build a stronger and more progressive Nkanu West.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA). The tragic incident occurred on September 14, 2024, when Mr. Aniagu was shot at Moses Ogbodo Junction near Topland Market in Amaechi, Enugu South Local Government Area.   Parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Friday, the Spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that the arrests were the result of diligent intelligence work and coordinated efforts between detectives from the Anti-Robbery Section (D9) of the State CID and operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad.   The suspects were identified as Chukwudi Aboshi, a 28-year-old native of Anike in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and Ani Innocent Ebuka, also known as “Excellent,” a driver and native of Isigwe-Ugbawka in Nkanu East Local Government Area. A dramatic incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning at a hotel in Agbani, Enugu State, when a woman, popularly known as Madam Gold , attacked a young lady, Ijeoma Nnamani, over an alleged affair with her sugar boy, identified as Micheal Ozoh. The altercation, which took place around 5 a.m., reportedly began when Madam Gold stormed the hotel, banging on the door of the room occupied by Micheal and Ijeoma.
