BREAKING! IGBO-JAH: Nkanu Youth Leaders Visit Enugu Police Command, Demand Immortalization of Slain Cultural Music Icon

In a meaningful display of solidarity and advocacy, the Nkanu Youth Leadership recently paid an official courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State. This visit came in response to the tragic death of Mr. Okezie Mbah (Igbo Jah), a beloved Emugu musician whose artistry celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Nkanu people. The community, united in grief, is determined to seek justice for their departed brother.

Led by Comr. David Nwachukwu, the youth leaders commended the Commissioner of Police for his swift response to the incident. They expressed gratitude for his commitment to ensuring that the implicated officer was promptly discharged from the force, allowing him to face the law as a civilian. The youth emphasized that this action was crucial in maintaining public trust and confidence in the police force's role in upholding justice without bias.

The Nkanu Youth Leadership proposed a partnership with the Enugu State Police Command to commemorate the legacy of Mr. Mbah. They expressed a strong desire for the state government to immortalize his memory, highlighting that his music resonated deeply with the values, culture, and history of the Nkanu people. His songs were more than entertainment; they represented a celebration of Nkanu identity and pride.

In response, the Commissioner of Police expressed his condolences to the community and reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to justice and accountability. He underscored that the primary role of the police is to protect the lives and rights of all citizens, firmly stating that the actions leading to this incident were a grave deviation from their mission. "In all my years in the police force," he remarked, "this is the first time such an incident has occurred under my watch, and I will ensure it is the last."

The Commissioner assured the delegation that, with the support of the Inspector General of Police, all necessary steps would be taken to ensure that those involved face the full consequences of their actions. He also pledged to support the family of the deceased and the fans who cherished his music, promising to provide comfort and closure to those affected by this loss. Measures will be put in place to prevent such incidents in the future, reaffirming the commitment of his office to uphold the integrity of the police force in Enugu State.

This visit not only highlights the grief of the Nkanu community but also their resolve to seek justice and honor the memory of a cherished artist.
