Hon. Arinze Emmanuel Eze Applauds Gov. Peter Mbah on Dualization of 43.7km Penoks-Abakpa Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road
The President of the Centre for Youth Transformation (NCYT), Hon. Arinze Emmanuel Eze, has lauded Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his commitment to transformative infrastructure projects, particularly the dualization of the 43.7km Penoks-Abakpa Nike-Ugwogo-Nike-Opi Nsukka Road. The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place today, marks a significant milestone in the governor's vision to make Enugu State a hub for investment, commerce, and quality living.
Expressing his appreciation, Hon. Eze, affectionately known as "Bravo," commended Governor Mbah’s dedication to improving transportation networks and fostering economic growth across the Nsukka zone and Enugu State at large. "This road project is more than just an infrastructure development; it’s a testament to Gov. Mbah’s commitment to ensuring that no region is left behind in the pursuit of progress. His leadership and foresight are truly paving the way for an economically vibrant and connected Enugu State," Eze stated.
Hon. Eze, a prominent youth leader and real estate entrepreneur from Orba in Udenu Local Government Area, emphasized that the dualization of this major roadway will enhance safety, improve travel time, and significantly boost commercial activities in the Nsukka zone. He also recalled his strong support for Governor Mbah during the election campaign, expressing pride in witnessing the administration’s strategic focus on impactful infrastructure.
"The 43.7km Penoks-Abakpa Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road will undoubtedly uplift the quality of life for residents, improve connectivity across our communities, and spur economic growth. This is a landmark project that will bring lasting benefits, and we owe our heartfelt thanks to Governor Mbah for his devotion to our people," Eze noted.
The dualization project is part of a larger infrastructure initiative that includes a budget allocation of N183 billion for constructing roads within Enugu’s urban and rural areas, aimed at enhancing accessibility, reducing transportation bottlenecks, and supporting the agricultural sector.
Governor Mbah reiterated the project’s importance during the flag-off ceremony, highlighting its role in cutting down travel time between Enugu and Nsukka, improving safety by straightening sharp bends, and contributing to the overall economic growth of the region. The governor also stressed the importance of grassroots development, with a commitment to 10km of roads per electoral ward and additional investments in schools and healthcare centers.
In Hon. Eze’s words, "Gov. Mbah’s initiatives are a turning point for our state. The Nsukka zone and Enugu as a whole are being redefined through visionary projects that will have a long-term positive impact on our economy and quality of life."
The road project, expected to be completed within 18 months, will feature streetlights and other modern amenities, underscoring the administration’s commitment to quality infrastructure development.
