BREAKING: Enugu State Govt Cancels November Clean-up Exercise

  


The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced the cancellation of the scheduled clean-up exercise for November 30, 2024, to allow the State Government to honor the funeral of the mother of the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia. The burial ceremony is expected to draw numerous dignitaries and visitors from across the state.


In a public service announcement, ESWAMA explained that the decision was made to ensure proper arrangements for the burial ceremony, which will be a significant event for the government and the people of Enugu State. ESWAMA expressed regret for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause but urged the public to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings by properly bagging their waste for disposal.


The authority thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation and assured that regular clean-up exercises would resume as scheduled in the future.

  ...Court Dismisses ‘rights Violation’ Suit Filed by ‘kidney donor’ Against Ekweremadu: A federal high court in Abuja has dismissed David Ukpo’s bid to overturn orders granting Ike Ekweremadu, the former deputy senate president, access to his biodata for use in a UK court. In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, Inyang Ekwo, the presiding judge, held that the applicant, Edo Civil Society Organisations (EDOSCO), lacked the legal right to institute the suit on Ukpo’s behalf. Ekwo held that the provision of article 3 (e) of the preamble to the fundamental rights (enforcement procedure) rules, 2009 (FREPR 2009), under which EDOSCO filed the suit, cannot be said to have granted any person without legal personality to sue or be sued in the court. Prof. Neri Picardo , a respected medical professional at Niger Foundation Hospital , Enugu, has passed away. The professor reportedly collapsed earlier this morning while attending to a patient. Despite immediate efforts to resuscitate him, medical personnel were unable to revive him. Prof. Picardo's sudden death has left the medical community and those who knew him in shock. Prof. Neri Picardo was known for his dedication to patient care and his invaluable contributions to healthcare in Enugu.
