BREAKING: Enugu Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim Abducted At Asata, Taken To A Guest House In Abakpa, Demanding 5Million Ransom

..As Family Lauds Enugu Govt, Security Operatives for Prompt Action

Family of a kidnapped victim, the Azodo family from Anambra State, has commended the Nigeria Police Anti-Kidnap Squad for the prompt rescue of their kidnapped relation, 16-year-old Chidera Azodo.

The happy family also commended the Enugu State Government, whose security gadgets helped in tracking the kidnappers and making the rescue operation easier.

Addressing newsmen on behalf of the Azodo family on Friday, Mr. Ifeanyi Azodo, a Nollywood actor, producer, and director, narrated how Chidera was abducted around 10:30 am on Thursday when he went to Asata to buy something and was forced with a knife to enter a tricycle, aka Keke, and whisked away to a guest house in Abakpa Nike, identified as Ava Villie Guest House by College Road.

He said that around 11 am, his brother, Tagbo Azodo, called him to report that his son had been kidnapped and the kidnappers were demanding a ₦5 million ransom.

He said Mr. Tagbo told him that immediately after the kidnappers contacted him and made their outrageous demand, which they later reduced to ₦3 million, he called the Government House, Enugu, and was informed that the boy was being held at a guest house in Abakpa.

According to him, his brother further contacted the Anti-Kidnap Squad of the Police, who corroborated the Government House’s information that the boy was being held at a guest house in Abakpa and even mentioned a specific location.

“Immediately my brother called me, I came down from Anambra State and met him at the Anti-Kidnap office. They left us there around 4 pm, and within two hours, they came back, and there was jubilation everywhere. When we enquired, they told us that one of the kidnappers had been caught and that my cousin had been rescued.

“I was overwhelmed; in short, I was flabbergasted. To be honest, in my state, where I came from, such a thing never happened that fast.

“They told us that ‘Oga at the top’ doesn’t waste time when it comes to kidnapping. I saw and I believed. I give kudos to the Enugu State Government and the Enugu State Police Command,” he said.

Azodo stated that the swift action of the police has made him believe that the police are indeed our friends. He also commended the Enugu State Government for mounting security gadgets capable of detecting crime in any nook and cranny of the metropolis.

He, however, urged the police to act swiftly and arrest the other fleeing kidnappers, saying, “Because if they are not caught, the case has not ended.” BY JUDE OSSAI / ENUGU/ Dailynewsngr
