Enugu State Govt Approves Election of New Traditional Ruler for Mburubu Community

The Enugu State government has given approval for the election of a new traditional ruler for the Mburubu community, scheduled for tomorrow, February 28, 2025, at the Community Primary School in Mburubu.

The announcement was made in a letter dated February 25, addressed to the President General of the Mburubu Town Union, High Chief (Hon) Emmanuel Sopuruchukwu Edeh, by the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The Ministry confirmed that the election would be conducted in accordance with the provisions outlined in the 2003 Mburubu Town Union Constitution and in compliance with relevant laws and constitutional requirements.

This is in line with the court ruling, issued on February 12, 2025, which invalidated the claim of Mr. Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe to impose himself as the Igwe following his controversial election by a faceless group called the Mburubu General Assembly.
