Join Hon. Okey Mbah's Indept Discussion On Rental Fee Regulation @Afia TV

As part of ongoing legislative efforts to address the challenges faced by tenants in Enugu State, Hon. Okey Mbah, member representing Nkanu East Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, will appear on Afia The AM Show to discuss rental fee regulation and relief for tenants. The programme, scheduled for Thursday, 27th February 2025, at 9:00 AM, will air live on Afia TV, DSTV Channel 254, GOTV Channel 17, and Free TV Channel 748.

Hon. Mbah, who is spearheading the Bill for a Law to Amend the Landlord and Tenant Law, CAP. 101, Laws of Enugu State, 2024, will shed light on key provisions of the proposed legislation. The bill, which has passed its first reading, seeks to regulate agency and legal fees, capping them at 10% of rent, and abolish the controversial caution fee often demanded by landlords without refund. It also proposes strict penalties for violations, including a fine of ₦500,000 or a six-month jail term.

With growing concerns over exploitative rental practices, irregular evictions, and high housing costs, the discussion on Afia The AM Show promises to be insightful, offering clarity on how the bill, when passed into law, will protect tenants and ensure fair housing policies in Enugu State.

Viewers can join the conversation live on Afia TV and engage through social media (@afiatvofficial) for updates and reactions.
