BREAKING: FG Set To Establish Renewed Hope Cultural Villages Nationwide

The Federal Government has unveiled plans to establish "Renewed Hope Cultural Villages" across Nigeria’s 36 states to promote the nation’s rich cultural heritage and boost the creative industry.

Abiola Jagunlabi, Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Ilorin. He stated that the initiative is part of the "Renewed Hope Cultural Project," aimed at preserving historical sites, enhancing cultural education, and driving economic growth.

According to Jagunlabi, the villages will be developed in collaboration with state governments, transforming historic locations into creative hubs that foster economic opportunities in arts and entertainment.

The project will focus on:

  • Restoration and conservation of historic sites, monuments, palaces, and artefacts.
  • Enhancing cultural education and skills in local crafts.
  • Encouraging job creation through tourism and creative enterprises.

He emphasized that the success of the project depends on the active participation of state governments, local communities, and stakeholders.

“This initiative, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is expected to have a major economic impact by creating thousands of jobs and generating revenue through tourism and the creative industry,” Jagunlabi stated.

The National Economic Council (NEC) has already approved the project, paving the way for the transformation of Nigeria’s cultural and creative landscape.
