BREAKING: Man Held Captive by His Family After Returning to Nigeria to Reclaim His Properties, Investments Over the Years

A Nigerian man who returned home after 23 years abroad to reclaim property he had been financing was allegedly detained against his will by his own family.

Sources indicate that the man, whose identity has not been disclosed, had been sending money for years to secure real estate in Nigeria. However, upon his arrival, his family members reportedly resisted his claim and instead took him to an Alfa (Islamic cleric), where he was allegedly held captive.

While details remain unclear, reports suggest that he was confined under spiritual pretexts, preventing him from asserting ownership of the property.

The incident has raised concerns about property fraud involving family members of Nigerians in the diaspora, with many calling for stronger legal protections for those investing in assets back home.

Authorities have yet to comment on the situation, but efforts are reportedly underway to secure the man’s release and investigate the circumstances of his detention.
