SAD: Young Graduate Brutally Killed By Herdsmen Attack at Camp
A young graduate, John Johnson, was brutally killed in an attack by suspected herdsmen in Zaina, near Angwar Hakimi, Orozo, Abuja, during a Boys’ Brigade camping event. The incident occurred on March 29, 2025, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Johnson, an Igala native, had recently lost his father to a prolonged illness. The attack took place after the Boys’ Brigade relocated from their original campsite to a nearby church due to the threat of rain. When two leaders of the group returned to retrieve their belongings, they were ambushed. One managed to escape, but Johnson was killed.
The Chief of Igala in Orozo, Amadu Zachariah, confirmed the attack and expressed disappointment over the lack of arrests. According to him, local Fulani herdsmen fled the area after the incident. Community leaders from the Fulani settlement assured authorities they would help identify the attackers, but no suspects have been apprehended.
Authorities were alerted, and the police initiated an investigation. However, efforts to obtain a response from the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, were unsuccessful.
The Fortress Ministry in Abuja has officially announced Johnson’s death, describing him as a martyr for his faith. In a statement signed by Rev. Samuel Ikani, the church expressed grief but emphasized his dedication to the Gospel.
Johnson’s family and the community are now calling for justice, urging authorities to take action and prevent further attacks.
