Addressing Misconceptions about Uzo-Uwani's Security and Political Climate

It has become crucial to address some misconceptions propagated by self-styled activists who, in their quest for influence, have strayed from the truth. I have remained largely silent, aiming to foster constructive dialogue; however, the continued misrepresentation by individuals like Mr. Matthew, who seems to thrive on social media turmoil amid pressing security challenges in Uzo-Uwani, cannot go unchallenged.
The issue of security in Uzo-Uwani, particularly related to the activities of Fulani herdsmen, has been ongoing since 2005, following the tragic murder of a young man in my community. Unfortunately, this has led to a cycle of conflict, which some individuals exploit for their own agenda, resulting in instances of robbery and kidnapping.
It is a gross misunderstanding to expect that security strategies should be shared publicly, whether on social media or in public forums, for the sake of self-promotion or blame-shifting. Now is not the time for divisive rhetoric or unstructured accusations against our leaders, who are working tirelessly to restore peace in our community.
To insinuate that the Governor of Enugu State is indifferent to the insecurity in Uzo-Uwani or elsewhere is both disheartening and inaccurate. Our local leaders are also committed to addressing these challenges and have been actively engaging with relevant authorities to improve the situation. Disparaging them, especially in our current plight, undermines their efforts and disrespects their dedication.
We, the people of Uzo-Uwani, urge sympathizers to refrain from making inflammatory claims about the purported deaths of 25 residents at the hands of herders, such allegations are unfounded and have never occurred. Those who wish for violence to endure in our counci area like Matthew does, display a lack of empathy and disregard for human life.
Barrister Ezugwu's commitment to restoring peace and order is unquestionable. His recent pledge to sacrifice his life for the sake of peace across the council demonstrates the significant efforts being made behind the scenes, with more initiatives to come.
Hope remains high among our people, who firmly believe in Barrister Chijioke Ezugwu's capabilities. They know it is only a matter of time before Uzo-Uwani returns to its former glory.
Furthermore, for Mr. Matthew, it is important to clarify a misconception regarding political appointments. I have never sought or met anyone regarding such positions. In fact, I have repeatedly declined offers for political roles, a fact that Ugwuanyi Ikenna can attest to, as he has approached me multiple times in the past regarding political opportunities. It is essential to set the record straight, particularly given your continuous hostility toward the people of Uzo-Uwani since the 2023 elections and your unrelenting bitterness toward those who have moved on politically.
Let us strive for unity, understanding, and respect for our leaders as they navigate these turbulent waters on behalf of our communities.
