This development comes on the heels of the enthusiastic welcome Enugu Air received at AIIA on Friday, a milestone celebrated by aviation stakeholders and government representatives alike.

Speaking during the reception ceremony, Hilary Umunna, Regional Manager for South East Airports and Manager of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, said the arrival of Enugu Air is poised to significantly transform the aviation landscape of the region.

“We anticipate positive economic ripple effects for Enugu State and the Southeast region, fostering trade, tourism, and business growth. One of FAAN’s goals is to sustain and expand partnerships that will make Enugu a strategic aviation hub,” Umunna noted.

He further revealed that the airport has undergone substantial infrastructure improvements and operational upgrades to meet international standards, ensuring seamless collaboration with the new airline.

“This includes infrastructure enhancements, improved ground handling services, security reinforcements and compliance with international safety and operational standards,” he explained.

Umunna, who previously worked with the Cross River State Government during the establishment of Cally Air, expressed his optimism about the prospects of Enugu Air.

“I am honored and excited to welcome Enugu Air to Akanu Ibiam International Airport. Their presence enhances connectivity, boosts economic activities, and aligns with our vision of making Enugu the preferred aviation hub for the South East,” he concluded.

The airline's recruitment drive not only affirms its intention to scale operations swiftly but also supports the broader vision of economic revitalization and youth employment in the region. With Enugu Air taking flight, stakeholders and residents alike await a new era of accessibility, opportunity, and growth in southeastern Nigeria.
