BREAKING: Lt. Colonel Appolonia Anaele Emerges Nigeria Army's First Female Spokesperson

 


In a historic move, the Nigerian Army has appointed Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anaele as the acting Director of the Department of Army Public Relations.

Anaele, who will officially take over from Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, becomes the first female senior officer to lead the Army’s public relations unit since its inception over five decades ago.

This landmark appointment marks a significant step towards gender inclusivity within the Nigerian military hierarchy.

According to media sources, no female officer has ever held the position of spokesperson for the Nigerian Army until now. Anaele’s elevation is seen as a progressive milestone in the country’s military history, inspiring a new era for women in the armed forces.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA).    Residents of  Ikedinkpa Affa , a community in  Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State , have raised alarm over an alleged invasion by suspected  Fulani herdsmen , leading to attacks and heightened tension in the area. In a disturbing video shared online by  Mr. Emeka Amadi , an indigene of the community, he decried the growing insecurity, stating that armed assailants had taken over parts of the community. "Our people are under threat from the Fulani terrorists… These men of the underworld are scavenging the lives of our people.
