Enugu Community Presents Igwe - Elect
...As Council Chairman Describes Igwe - Elect As The People's Choice.
The Caretaker Committee, Umueze Town Union and the people of Umueze community today made official presentation of their Igwe - elect, Chief Emeka Ani, Igwenaezuruoha 11 of Umueze Umueze.
The community conducted election for the traditional ruler on Saturday, 12 April where Chief Emeka Ani overwhelmingly emerged the winner.
Recieving the Igwe-elect with the Town Union executive and some elders of the community, the local government chairman, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo described the Igwe - elect as the people's choice which he said manifested in his overwhelming success at the polls.
He further described the election as credible, calm and peaceful saying that Umueze as a community had always been law-abiding people and supportive to government policies and programmes.
The council boss advised Igwe - elect, Chief Ani to see his emergence as a call to serve his people and not an opportunity to create unnecessary enemity but rather seize the opportunity to reposition Umueze in the commity of communities not only in Nkanu West LG but in Enugu State at large.
Ogbodo thanked Governor Peter Mbah for creating the enabling environment for the Ministry Of Chieftaincy to prepare the platform for a credible election urging the community to appreciate the governor for the transformational projects ongoing in their community such as the Smart Green School, Type 2 Primary Healthcare Center and other giant strides of the governor around the state.
In his speech, the Igwe - elect, Chief Emeka Ani expressed suprise by the magnitude and numerous developmental projects Governor Mbah is doing in the state while assuring his community readiness to re-elect the governor for a second term.
Chief Ani commended the council chairman for his good works in Nkanu West LG since his assumption of office saying that Hon. Ogbodo has transformed the council within short period pointing out the ongoing construction of a modern abattoir, public toilet at Eke Agbani market, changing the face of Ozalla Four Corners park and his urban renewal cum beautification, painting of cabs along Ozalla - Obe Umueze - Agbani road
Chief Ani thanked the council chairman, Hon. Ogbodo for the monitoring of the election which he said contributed in making it hitch free while thanking specially the Town Union Caretaker Committee President, Engr. Okwudiri Ohaa, his executive and the people of Umueze for their contribution to make the election a huge success.
Chief Ani thanked the chairman for appointing one of their illustrious sons, Barr. Chidi Ani as his Chief Of Staff promising that Umueze would come later to appreciate him for such an honour.
Earlier recieving the Igwe elect in his office, the Deputy Chairman, Engr. Friday Nnam who was present to monitor the election described the election as wonderful, free and fair advising Chief Ani to unite Umueze.
