Igbo-Etiti Traders Hail Governor Peter Mbah’s Market Reforms and Infrastructure Drive

Traders in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area have expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for what they described as a “bold and life-changing transformation of market infrastructure and economic systems” across the state.

The traders made this known during the inspection tour of key market projects in the LGA by the Special Assistant to the Governor, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, who visited Nkwo-Ogbede Market and other strategic locations to assess the progress of ongoing infrastructural interventions initiated under Governor Mbah’s administration.

According to the traders, the newly renovated market is a symbol of the administration’s genuine concern for grassroots development. They praised the clean environment, enhanced security, and availability of solar-powered lighting, which now allows for extended business hours. Many noted that the improved conditions are not just helping them survive economically but also enabling real business growth.

They emphasized that the modern lock-up shops, sanitation facilities, paved walkways, and borehole water system now available in the market have significantly improved their trading experience and boosted customer turnout.

Prior to the intervention, traders lamented poor facilities, leaking roofs, and a lack of basic amenities. Today, however, they say the transformation has been nothing short of remarkable.

During the tour, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah reassured the traders that Governor Peter Mbah remains committed to replicating similar projects across all rural markets in the state as part of his broader economic transformation agenda. He highlighted the administration’s goal to grow Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, noting that empowering local businesses through solid infrastructure is a key strategy.

Traders also applauded the rehabilitation of access roads linking various markets and farming communities in Igbo-Etiti, including the Ukehe-Ogbede and Aku-Ikolo routes, which have eased the movement of goods and reduced transportation costs for both buyers and sellers.

They noted that, with these roads now motorable, goods that once arrived damaged now reach the markets fresh and intact—resulting in less waste and better profits.

The traders concluded with a strong appeal for continued government support and pledged to maintain the new market facilities. They also urged their fellow citizens to support Governor Mbah’s administration, stating that the transformation being witnessed is a clear sign of responsive and visionary leadership.

With Nkwo-Ogbede Market now serving as a beacon of economic revitalization, the traders of Igbo-Etiti are confident that the administration’s market reforms will uplift countless households and lay the foundation for a more prosperous Enugu State.
