Nkanu East LGA to Host The First Lady of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah



The entire Nkanu East Local Government Area is agog with excitement as the council, under the warm hospitality of Mrs. Rita Edeh, wife of the Executive Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, welcomes Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, the First Lady of Enugu State, on a familiarization visit taking place today, Sunday, 8th June 2025.

The high-profile visit is holding at the Nkanu East Local Government Headquarters, by 9:00 am, and is drawing wide participation from women across the local government area.

Mrs. Rita Edeh, who is hosting the event, described the visit as a landmark occasion for the women of Nkanu East. She emphasized that the First Lady’s outreach reflects the current administration’s commitment to grassroots inclusion, women empowerment, and community development.

The familiarization visit is strengthening the bond between the office of the First Lady and the women of Nkanu East, while also creating opportunities for shared initiatives that promote social welfare, health, education, and economic growth.

As Nkanu East rolls out the welcome mat, all eyes are on this significant event, which further highlights the inclusive governance approach of the Peter Mbah-led administration.

Tragedy struck in Nsukka, Enugu State, as two persons were reportedly killed today, Tuesday, 24th of September 2024, in Nsukka Town in separate incidents involving the notorious Oriokpa masquerades, whose violent activities have continued to instill fear in the local communities. The first casualty, an unidentified middle-aged woman, met her untimely death at Aku Road, Obechara area, Nsukka, after being chased by one of the Oriokpa masquerades. [VIDEO] Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Invade Enugu Community, Attack Residents

   Residents of  Ikedinkpa Affa , a community in  Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State , have raised alarm over an alleged invasion by suspected  Fulani herdsmen , leading to attacks and heightened tension in the area. In a disturbing video shared online by  Mr. Emeka Amadi , an indigene of the community, he decried the growing insecurity, stating that armed assailants had taken over parts of the community. "Our people are under threat from the Fulani terrorists… These men of the underworld are scavenging the lives of our people.
