The MainPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MEDL) has announced a planned power outage that will affect several parts of Enugu Metropolis on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Emeka Ezeh, Head of Communications at MEDL, the interruption is necessary to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out essential maintenance works on its facilities.

The outage will affect the following 33KV feeders/lines: Kingsway (Lines 1 & 2), Emene Industrial (Lines 1 & 2), Ugwuogo, Thinkers Corner, Trans Ekulu, Ituku Ozalla, and Government House.

Consequently, electricity supply will be disrupted in key areas including 9th Mile and surrounding communities, Government House and environs, Shoprite Axis, Golf Estate, Zoo Estate, Okpara Avenue, Kingsway Area, Abakaliki Road, CBN Quarters, Railway Quarters, Artisan, Ngwo, Coal Camp, Ologo Quarters, Uwani, Asata, Golden Royale, and Iva Valley.

MEDL apologized for the inconvenience the exercise may cause and assured residents that power supply will be restored promptly upon the completion of the maintenance. The company reiterated its commitment to delivering improved and reliable service to its customers.

Enugu: Finally, Suspected Killers of Ogbete Market Chairman Arrested

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association (OMMATA). [VIDEO] Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Invade Enugu Community, Attack Residents

   Residents of  Ikedinkpa Affa , a community in  Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State , have raised alarm over an alleged invasion by suspected  Fulani herdsmen , leading to attacks and heightened tension in the area. In a disturbing video shared online by  Mr. Emeka Amadi , an indigene of the community, he decried the growing insecurity, stating that armed assailants had taken over parts of the community. "Our people are under threat from the Fulani terrorists… These men of the underworld are scavenging the lives of our people.
