Igbo-Etiti Councilor, Hon. Val Atunya, Cries Out Over Alleged Threats, Purported Suspension by Council Chairman

The Councilor representing Idoha Ward in the Igbo-Etiti Legislative Council, Hon. Val Atunya, has raised alarm over what he described as a politically motivated plot to silence him, following his purported suspension by the Council Chairman, Dr. Eric Odo. In a statement issued to his supporters, Atunya alleged that since his second-term inauguration on October 24, 2024, he has faced persistent threats and intimidation from the Chairman, culminating in what he termed a “kangaroo suspension” carried out by a minority of council legislators on October 23, 2025.

Dearest fans and ever supporters of Val Atunya, i have entertained for 48 hours your worries and concerns about the condition of my position as the Councilor representing IDOHA ward in Igbo-etiti legislative council and i have this to say.

Since my second tenure inauguration as the Councilor representing Idoha Ward in Igbo-etiti legislative council on 24th October, 2024. The Council Chairman of our Local Government Dr. Eric Odo has been threatening my life with heavy words and dangerous statements like crushing me before the end of my second tenure or making me regret coming back for second tenure, he made this threats repeatedly in both physical meetings  and on WhatsApp conference calls between him and we the Councilors (reason best known for him).

It's also pertinent to note that after his first attempt to suspend me in July failed, he stopped at nothing in making sure that i was forced out of the councilorship position voted me in by the good people of IDOHA ward.

It was as if his threat gained ground on thursday 23rd October 2025, when he finally accomplished my purported suspension with the minority of Igbo-etiti legislators.

Meanwhile, before the kangaroo suspension, the Council Chairman has seized my September overhead and i am yet to receive any suspension letter from either the Clark of the House or Leader of the Council till this moment but i have also been evicted in all the Councilors WhatsApp platform as directed by same Chairman.

 Long Live Igbo-etiti......

Long live Enugu state......
