RICHNESS OF BLACK SKIN: Why Melanin Costs $750 Per Gram

Black skin is remarkable for its uniqueness. Black individuals are blessed with dark skin pigmentation, which is naturally rich in melanin, particularly eumelanin. This skin contains more melanosomes, offering superior protection against the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. As a result, it helps the body retain its folate reserves and protects DNA from damage.

Regrettably, some people choose to lighten their skin to appear more like white individuals. However, the richness of black skin goes beyond protection; it encompasses aesthetic and functional depth. Melanin imparts a spectrum of warm, vibrant hues—from deep ebony to rich mahogany—that reflects light, highlighting contours and vitality. This is often celebrated in cultural expressions of beauty. Additionally, melanin acts as an antioxidant, combating free radicals and reactive oxygen species, which can accelerate ageing. This is why black skin generally shows fewer wrinkles, less photoaging, and maintains elasticity over time.

Interestingly, purified melanin is so valuable in industries like cosmetics, biomedicine, and materials science, which it's used for UV-protective coatings or drug delivery. It cost $750 per gram to extract and synthesize, underscoring the pigment's precious, multifunctional nature that nature provides freely in blak skin.

Every black person in this world should feel grateful for their dark skin. It saddens me to see beautiful black women I used to admire suddenly opting for a lighter complexion. There are no health benefits to skin bleaching. Results are not guaranteed, and evidence shows that skin lightening can lead to serious side effects and complications.

Skin bleaching does not enhance beauty; rather, it diminishes the concentration and production of melanin in the skin. For instance, using skin bleaching products containing hydroquinone reduces the richness of melanocytes (the cells that produce melanin) in your skin.

I urge black individuals to stop using bleaching products due to the associated damage.

BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

BLACK IS UNIQUE

BLACK IS SPECIAL

BLACK IS RICH IN MELANIN

Be proud of your skin colour and refrain from using bleaching products. Lightening your skin will not change the way you think, reason, or behave like a white person; instead, it will make you appear opaque, artificial, and less authentic.

Good afternoon...
